The first person I chose to interview is my mom. My mom has worked in the Real Estate business for about 10 years. She always debated going through Real Estate or something else. But, she found her calling and it was Real Estate. She works for a company called Vinebrook Homes that’s located out of Dayton, OH. My mom has record breaking sales as a leasing agent. She sells a house every time she goes out. The tension levels in our own business.
ME: What does your day look like as a Realtor?
KG: Well, I wake up get on the computer to see what showings and move ins I have, look at any emails, look through my voicemails, collect any data I missed so I can start calling the people back to set up any future appointments. Then after, I head out to my first appointment and on with my day. My day is pretty much the same each and everyday. I go to the houses, show them, they apply if they wish, and then move on from there. I feel like my day is probably a little more different than Realtors at a bigger company like Sibcy Cline and etc. I’m a leasing agent so I have more of a flexile schedule and I run how I do things. I don’t necessarily have to follow major rules when renting a house to an individual.
ME: Wow, that’s pretty nice you’re able to have so much free time during your work. So, tell me more about your scheduling as a leasing agent.
KG: Well what specifics do you want?
ME: I guess how do you fit in time for your family and your work. Are you able to just call off whenever or do you have to verify it with someone higher?
KG: Well a little bit of both. So yeah I make my own schedule, but I do indeed have to go over it with Jeff, my boss to make sure I’m 100% allowed to. Typically when I have some down time through the day and I’m over by my daughters house, Kaitlyn, I’ll go and visit her and my two grandkids. In my free time I do anything I please that will make my day easier and fly by. Typically for like vacations, I request that time off because that’s more time off rather than just a day.
ME: That’s amazing. I love the fact that you can just do whatever you want during work hours. Okay, do you work from home or do you go to a more office professional setting?
KG: Both. I work from home when I don’t have showings. I update a lot of my clients intel in the database. Every Sunday, I have to go through the files and run the numbers to make sure everything is in place and everything matches with one another. The days I go to the office are usually only when I need a set of keys, turn in money/ money orders, sign a lease, or just sit down and go through of course more files.
ME: Haha, that’s nice you don’t have to sit behind a desk and have to office job label to you. Anyways, thank you for your time and completing this interview with me!
